About Us

Eastside Decks was established in 2005 with the goal of providing the highest quality decks, porches, and railings to homes and businesses in Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island and The Greater Eastside area. Please see our extensive gallery.

We build and install a wide variety of styles and brands, from Trex decking to Post Steel Deck Framing. We have extensive experience with working in challenging design situations, and we can design decks and porches of any size.

Eastside Decks is a licensed general contractor with the State of Washington, license EASDL931JS. We are bonded and insured.

Brett Backues, CFO

Brett Backues

Brett received a Business Administration degree from the University of Washington, an MBA degree from Seattle University, and is a licensed WA state CPA. Brett is active in the American Institute of CPAs, the Rotary Club of Samammish, the Issaquah and Snoqualmie Chambers of Commerce, and serves as treasurer for the Chris Elliott Fund for Glioblastoma Brain Cancer Research. In his spare time, Brett loves to sail and "hit the links" with his friends and associates.

For 23 years, Brett has provided the skill and dedication that has earned him industry-wide respect. Prior to his current position Brett honed his CPA, controllership and management skills in positions with Boeing, Comsys, a public accounting firm and entrepreneurial businesses specializing in telecommunications, construction, manufacturing and distribution. Brett's extensive professional experience is complemented by a sense of vision, strong leadership and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Christina Berggren, Accountant

Christina Berggren

Christina's work at Backues & Co. includes preparing payroll, payroll tax reports, business income taxes, personal income taxes, accounting system reconciliation, taxation of entities and market research. Clients love working with Christina because she puts their needs first, consistently displaying strong customer service and a leadership work ethic that has earned her many fans over her three years with the company. She also possesses exceptional writing, presentation and training skills which make her an invaluable asset to clients and to the smooth functioning of Backues & Co.

Christina received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Central Washington University. In addition to her work at Backues & Co., Christina serves as secretary - treasurer for the Plateau Partners Chapter of Business Network International. She was married in 2010 and right now, her "kids" are two Boston terriers. Christina loves to ski, hike, camp, kayak and train for ½ marathons. She is working on becoming dive certified in addition to studying for the CPA exam.
